While everyone is enjoying the national holiday today, many Americans will do something special to honor the legacy of our veterans that led to the creation of Memorial Day. And that is GREAT!
I believe with all my heart that America is the greatest nation ever conceived of by men. I’m pretty sure most people around the world agree. Because when you exclude the people that want to destroy us, most people in the world would love to either visit or live here.
And memorial day is a great thing. The very name reminds us that we are supposed to remember something…to never forget.
Memorials are important. God has always given his people memorials. He gave a number of them to the Jews. He gave communion to Christians.
But what about us? Do we learn from God that we need reminders, and then erect our own personal memorials in our family? I suggest strongly that we do just as God did…create memorials. And that is what our family is doing today.
It’s been 7 1/2 weeks since we lost baby Noah. And on this day where we are completely free of appointments, work, and expectations from others, we are going to engage in a personal memorial for baby Noah Christian.
What kind of memorial? It’s not important. But what is important is that it is our own personal memorial.
What about you? Is there something in your family that you don’t want your children and grandchildren to forget? I’m betting there is. Create your own personal memorial. And it doesn’t have to be on Memorial Day. That’s just the way it’s working out for us.
Remember, you can create anything you want. There are no rules, no boundaries. Just make sure whatever you do touches the heart of what you want to remember.
If you do this, I GUARANTEE you will be glad you did. You’ll be doing for your family what God does for His family.
Let’s take a page out of the handbook from the perfect parent. Let’s lead our family in creating a personal, family memorial. Let’s remind ourselves of something special.
You’ll be so glad you did!
